BOOM | Providing an immersive, at-home audio experience (2020)

What

BOOM is a wearable insole designed to bring the physical feeling of live music into at-home listening. It translates the low-frequency energy of songs, concerts, and streamed performances into synchronized vibration under the feet, allowing listeners to feel the rhythm rather than just hear it. The insoles dock onto a magnetic charging base that also handles pairing and power, making the system easy to grab, charge, and use with any audio source.

Why

Digital concerts and streaming have made music more accessible than ever, but they often lack the intensity and emotional connection of being physically present at a venue. A live performance is felt as much as it is heard. The floor vibrates. Bass hits your body. BOOM was created to bridge that gap. It gives remote listeners a way to reclaim some of that atmosphere without needing external speakers or full-room vibration hardware.

How

Each insole contains multiple embedded haptic motors tuned specifically to react to bass frequencies. Incoming audio is analyzed and routed to the motors in real time, producing pulse patterns that align with kicks, drops, and low-end swells. The outer shell of the insole keeps a raw, expressive aesthetic, exposing a speaker-like detail as a nod to its musical DNA. When not in use, both insoles snap together onto a charging dock with visible LED feedback and magnetic alignment, acting as both storage and display.
